Waterside Bowls Club - Presentation Evening - 8th November 2025
Another great evening at Lexby Hall for Waterside Bowling Club’s
Presentation Evening. The room was beautifully decorated which made it ideal
for the club’s purposes. The food was delicious, and the bar was open. The numerous
trophies were on display and there was a jovial air in the room in anticipation
of the presentations being made.
Jamie Hughes (WBC Competitions Secretary) has prepared the following text to sum up the club’s season.
"It has been another successful year for WBC, with victories both men and ladies in N/F and S&D comps (NFBA Officers Cup, Pairs, Aussie Pairs, S&D Ben Pairs, NFWBA Jubilee Triples, Diamond Pairs, Bassett Triples, Champion of Champions).
We were represented again at Leamington Spa by Janet Ballard (twice), Sue Lewis-Parkes, Shirley Kavanagh & Lorraine Woodward in the 4's and Jamie Hughes in the Middleton Cup.
In the leagues, our men's A team held their own in NF 1 and S&D 1 with the B team becoming champions of N/F 3 and S&D Trips 3. The ladies were 3rd in S&D Rinks, R/U in NF A, NF B, S&D Trips A and S&D Trips B and champions of NF D.
On the domestic front, Finals Weekend ran smoothly & the weather was kind enabling all matches to be played. There a number of close games as expected with Martin Oldham, Helen Marshall & Pat Watts / Lorraine Woodward winning titles by a single shot.
Congratulations to Janet Ballard for winning the Ladies Club Championship and to Duncan Beck on winning his 1st Men's Club Championship title.
A season cannot run without the support of the club's members and the countless hours given to ensure its success. So to the greens team, the club's committee, social committee, caterers, surrounds team, bar staff, markers & flappers, I thank you all.
Jamie Hughes (WBC Comps Sec)"
As well as congratulating the Winners and Runners up at the Presentation Evening, we must thank everyone who entered club competitions as, without their entries, there are no winners or losers for that matter. It’s reassuring that the number of entries seems to grow each year along with a variation in winners.
President Andy's charity this year has been for the Naomi House and £1132.50 was raised.
Thank you to everyone who has donated over the year.
